Students who select Ireland as their preferred study destination will need to meet criteria set out by the Irish government. For more detailed information about the types of documentation permitted book an appointment with an education adviser. 

To successfully obtain a student visa the following steps will need to be followed: 

  1. Prepare all academic and personal documentation including financials. 

  2. Apply to an approved academic provider and pay the tuition fee deposit. 

  3. Obtain private health insurance or purchase via your selected institution. 

  4. Apply online for a student visa

  5. Book and attend a biometric screening at an approved VFS office. 

  6. Book and pay for flights only when a visa outcome has been reached.

You must supply a Letter of Application {Statement of Purpose} to prove your intention to travel to Ireland is for study purposes only. The letter should mention your willingness to return home following course completion or after your PSW {Post Study Work} visa expires. The areas that need to be addressed prior to visa lodgement are as follows:

  1. Outlining the reason{s} for selecting Ireland as a study destination. 

  2. Outline reasons for selecting the university and city. 

  3. Individual circumstances in home country. This includes economic circumstances.

  4. Details of any members of family currently residing in Ireland, or any other EU Member State. 

  5. An undertaking that you will not burden the State, and agree to leave Ireland prior to the expiry of your student visa. 

  6. If previous studies do not correlate with your future studies you must provide a valid reason for this and furnish evidence to justify and support a change in study plan. 

  7. Account for and evidence any study gaps between your last period of full time education and any future application to study in Ireland. 

  8. Detail any previous visa rejections and your recent travel history. 

  9. Any other relevant matters.

Students pursuing an education in Ireland need to provide financial evidence to cover the following:  

Proof of Funds

  • Proof of €7,000. This should be via an Education Bond“. 

  • Tuition Fees: Evidence of one years fees or a minimum of €6,000 paid. 

  • Flight tickets: €1,000.

  • Students can deduct the scholarship and / or deposit amount paid towards their tuition fee as part of their financial evidence.
