Canada bases their decision to approve a student visa on criteria set out by the immigration department. Prior to visa lodgement students will need to furnish several documents to ensure the best chance of success. Failing to supply the necessary documentation can lead to lengthy delays and a risk of visa rejection.   1. Passport: Valid for the duration of the course. 

  2. Two Digital & Hard Copy Photographs: 35-38mm x 45-50mm. 

  3. Letter of Intent / SoP: Review specifications here.

  4. Academic Transcripts: This should include subject specific grades, overall GPA and the university’s grading scale. Include any backlogs.  

  5. English Test: The Canadian government and universities permit the following English tests; IELTS, CAEL, Cambridge Assessment, PTE and TOEFL.

  6. Resume / CV: Provide evidence of work {contract / pay slip}, download template

  7. Police Certificate: No older than 6 months from date of submission, apply here.

  8. Proof of Funds: $11,000 per year in Canadian bank account, GIC, education loan, scholarship or bank statements + Tuition Fees + $833 per month living expenses.

  9. Proof of Payment: Receipt of payment to the institution. 

  10. Visa Rejections: Document any previous visa rejections. 

  11. Letter of Acceptance: From an approved Designated Learning Institute {DLI}. 

  12. Private Health Insurance: Purchase online or via the education provider. 

  13. Certificat d’acceptation du Québec: If studying in Québec.

  14. Form IMM5409: Statutory Declaration for those with dependents, apply here

  15. Visa Application: Complete online and pay student visa fee, apply here

Students can apply for a Canadian Student Visa up to 3 months prior to course commencement. Students can arrive in Canada a maximum of 30 days prior to course commencement.
